Saint Paul's Parish, Glenageary, Diocese of Dublin
St Paul’s seeks to appoint an Organist/Director of Music in a temporary capacity to cover a maternity leave. The post will be for one year, from 1st January to 31st December, 2026.
The person appointed will be expected to maintain and encourage the adult choir in a parish which has a fine choral tradition. The four-part robed choir currently consists of 16 women’s and men’s voices. There is a tradition of singing anthems and other appropriate music for the main festivals of the year.
The organist is required to play at the 10.30 am service on a Sundays, on other occasions as agreed, and to take a weekly choir practice on Wednesday nights. If available, the person appointed to this post would also have opportunities to play at funerals and weddings.
The two manual organ, built by Forster and Andrews in 1869, was last refurbished in 2018 and is in excellent condition.
The parish has an organ scholar who will be available to assist the person appointed to this post. A member of the choir is also a competent organist who can help provide cover as required.
Remuneration will reflect experience and qualifications of the successful applicant and will be aligned with the Church Music Dublin guidelines (Band C).
An agreed written contract will be entered into and signed by both parties.
